    What I would like to know is if it is possiable to upload our own recorded games, so that we can see it replayed in map inspector to be able to review it or is this something you are not able to do or simply cannot be done at this time ... thank you

    Thanks for reaching out!
    For now there is no infrastructure to host and distribute replays, it would need a much more robust server and a lot of software. So: months of work and increased daily costs. Also : not soon...
    Andrew is really interested in doing it, because it would allow lots of analysis and to extract new personal stats that aren’t included in WG API (for exemple number of pen/ shot), but also in tank data, for exemple exact camo values and other things.

    for now posting on your favorite site, for example wotreplay or vbaddict, and opening the link in map inspector is the only way.

    At some point map inspector might also get supported directly on these sites, and if you are interested, then maybe you can contact them directly and ask them to feature the map inspector replay webapp on their site.

    Of course nowadays WG have released replays, and blitz replays can be sent to wotinspector.com/en/replays.
    Andrew is now working on extracting full stats from group of replays for finer stats analysis than si possible through WG api

    In the android client of map inspector i can find and play random replays. I see the log and everything. How can i make a replay from one of my battle?

    The replays in the blitz version of Map Inspector are test ones found inside the game resources. As soon as WG adds option to save and share replays I think any user-created replays maybe opened in the app as well. We all are waiting for this moment :)

    There is an issue with mastery bage displaying for some replays. For example, this search doesn't show the bages for second and third replays.

    The database was continuously developed since blitz replays were released in 4.10. At first we just stored all incoming replays with minimal information (because we didn't know how to parse it), then as parsing evolves we started to store and show additional information like mastery badge, players statistics, exp and credits. That search you mentioned just shows some older replays in the list for which we didn't have enough details (incl. mastery badge) at that time.

    Hi, guys! You know that old replays don't work on new patches, so it would be nice to add "patch" filter to the replays search page.

    I've got the Ace tanker for this battle, but replay shows 2nd class.

    We had version filter previously but decided to remove it. The reason is that there are several different versions of the game that can handle the same replays files. For example, for 5.0 replays there are patch versions that can play these replay files: 5.0.0, 5.0.0_supertest, 5.0.1, 5.0.0_china. Handling all versions manually will require a lot of time.

    Yep. It happened with the recent patch that introduced the possibility to gain several Ace Tanker badges for one tank, same with 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes. I haven't been prepared to this so some replays show incorrect mastery badges. It's fixed already several days ago for any new replays.

    Hi, I've uploaded a bunch of replays as part of an experiment to confirm or otherwise if Tier Vii tanks are disproportionately bottom tier. I also wanted to use this data to look at average WR's for a team, there should be approx 300-350 battles once I finish. What I wanted to know is, is there an API I can use on the replays db to query it? I'm going to have a look at the WG API as may be able to use that but curious if using the replay db was also an option?

    There is no API yet but we plan to analyze replays we have in the database soon, gathering all stats we could have: incl. map stats (heatmaps, winrates, etc), tank stats (avg. damages, win rates) and probably user stats. Then we could have API to access the stats.

    Ok, thanks, is there any documentation anywhere on the replay file format? I was thinking I could suck out the wr stuff like you do on the site but I don't know anything about the file format, it's encoding etc...

    Unfortunately there is no documentation on replays file format, i did the reverse engineering myself. The file format actually is the same as on wot pc, except that the codes of messages are different and some messages are also stored differently. Here is some old code to parse wot pc replays for example: github.com/evido/wotreplay-parser, also there are test replays inside game files which have the json structure, it could help to understand what the data is stored inside. Probably later i could share some code to public, right now it is very much linked with map inspector code.

    Thanks again, I had one more question, last one, I promise :)
    I want to make sure I didn't miss something, I've made some progress with the files but I can't see anything that looks like career type stats as shown on wotinspector, are you getting them from the replay file or getting from the WG API when the replay is uploaded? If it's the latter then presumably the stats would reflect the current stats not those at the time of the battle so if I uploaded a replay a day or two later they could be off by a day or two? I'm just trying to understand whether they're in the replay file or not and I need to keep digging :)

    there is nothing about players in the replay files besides their names, the result board that is shown on wotinspector.com is pulled from the API just like blitzstars. and reflects the player profile at the time of viewing.

    I think the next step for wotinspector is to offer extensive stats from the replays themselves. It’s a bit early to know what form it would take but it will happen. So maybe save your efforts ? On the other hand if you can explain what exactly are your process and goals maybe we can include that in the stats ?

    Hy, thanks for the confirmation, part of the reason for doing it is I'm learning python so don't mind wasting my effort :)
    I was pretty sure that was the answer and it makes sense, so what I could do is request that from the API and store it so I have a snapshot from the time of the battle (or well at least the time I processed the file).
    What I wanted to do is write something to pull out the player rosters for both teams get their WR, Battle Count and then do some analysis on that across 100's of replays, because it does look like there is something different about how the MM is working now. Don't fear I haven't caught CanCrackeritis.
    sixty_three and I proved that playing tier v heavies with encounter only got you top tier >80% of the time but that seems to have been "fixed" in 5.3 but rather than repeating the manual exercise I did last time which is time consuming I wanted to automate it from the replay files if possible.
    I think it's a side effect of the changes put in to try and protect new players.

    Of course, and these are valid questions, hopefully we get an automated custom stat tool some day.
