My kids want to 3d print some tanks. I'm interested and have explored but not found anything. Is there a way to extract the 3d models as obj or stl that I can import into a modeler? I know they will need a lot of work to be printable, but it seems easier that starting from scratch. I imagine they ought to be in the game files or in armor inspector. I have only found the sc2 files in the game.

Hello this is interesting, I would love to hear more, and maybe help if I could ?
Yup the files are sc2 and would need to be exported as stl.
Also there are multiples models for each tank.
1 - The collision model, which is what the physics engine uses
2 - the HD models which is what you can see at the best resolution, and here the best models are the console and latest PC versions, and there is the model and then the details and textures and bump maps. Blitz uses lesser quality, and different models.
3 - then or each of these visual models there are some lower lods (simplified versions) for lower quality visuals when viewing from a distance.

You can see some of these in the app.
